Your privacy is fundamental to our craft. We do not collect, monitor, or record your keystrokes or handwritten glyphs.

Zero Keystroke Logging & On-Device Architecture

FontMaker is engineered with a strict privacy-first approach. Your custom keyboard does not log, track, or transmit what you type. Your handwritten letter strokes and exported font files remain stored locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to share them.

1 Introduction

Welcome to FontMaker ("Fontmaker : make your keyboard"), developed and published by CoreGrit Studio ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy transparently governs how data is handled within FontMaker and describes our safeguards regarding your personal information.

By installing and using the FontMaker mobile application, you acknowledge the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.

3 Custom Virtual Keyboard (IME Service)

FontMaker incorporates a custom Android Input Method Editor service (FontmakerKeyboardService). This service enables you to type with your hand-crafted letters directly in messaging and social apps (e.g., WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Messages).

Strict Keystroke Isolation

  • Zero Keystroke Logging: We do not log, capture, or transmit keystroke sequences, letters, words, or character combinations.
  • No Sensitive Input Capture: Passwords, credit card numbers, personal identifiers, contact information, and secret keys are never accessed, saved, or uploaded.
  • Local Communication Only: The keyboard communicates solely with your active device screen via Android's local input connection framework. No network requests are initiated by the keyboard service.
Regarding Android's System Warning:
When activating FontMaker in Android Settings, Android automatically presents a standard modal alert: "This input method may be able to collect all the text you type...".
This is an automatic notification displayed for all third-party virtual keyboards. FontMaker does not collect your input data.

4 Handwriting Drawings & Font Generation

When you draw letters, numbers, and symbols in the FontMaker canvas editor:

  • Local On-Device Storage: All vector paths, stroke coordinates, and character mappings are saved directly in your device's isolated local app directory and preferences.
  • On-Device TTF Compilation: Generation of TrueType (.ttf) font files is executed locally on your device utilizing an embedded JavaScript font engine.
  • No Biometric Profiling: We do not perform biometric recognition or behavioral profiling on your handwriting strokes.
  • No Cloud Uploads: Your drawings and custom font files are never automatically uploaded to any remote server or cloud database.

5 Advertising & Third-Party Services (Google AdMob)

FontMaker is funded through advertisements served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). These ads (such as rewarded videos for font export) allow us to keep core font creation features free for everyone.

Google AdMob may automatically collect and process certain non-personal device information to deliver and measure advertisements, including:

  • Device & Hardware Identifiers: Google Advertising ID (GAID / AAID), IP address, device brand, model, operating system version, and display dimensions.
  • Ad Interactions: Ad views, clicks, and rewarded ad completion events for fraud prevention and performance analysis.

6 Permissions Requested & Justifications

FontMaker requests only the minimal permissions necessary to deliver its core features:

android.permission.VIBRATE Provides subtle tactile haptic feedback while drawing glyphs and typing on the virtual keyboard.
android.permission.BIND_INPUT_METHOD Required by Android OS to register FontMaker as a selectable virtual keyboard in your system settings.
FileProvider Permits temporary, read-only file sharing when you explicitly choose to export your .ttf font or share story stickers to apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, or Canva.

7 Data Sharing with Third-Party Apps

FontMaker allows you to export your font as a standard .ttf file or share sample text as social story stickers (Instagram Stories, Snapchat, WhatsApp).

  • Strictly User-Initiated: Sharing is triggered solely by your deliberate action (tapping a share button).
  • Standard Android Intents: Files are transferred securely through Android's native sharing sheet or direct app intent.
  • Zero Tracking: CoreGrit Studio never monitors or records what content you share or to whom you send it.

8 Data Retention & User Deletion Rights

Because all font assets and glyph drawings are stored locally on your device, you possess total control over your data:

  • In-App Reset: You can wipe all drawings for any font at any time by selecting "Réinitialiser les glyphes de la police" inside the font action menu.
  • System Data Clearance: You can permanently delete all local font files and configurations via: Settings > Apps > FontMaker > Storage > Clear Data.
  • App Uninstallation: Removing FontMaker from your device immediately and irreversibly deletes all locally stored application data and font projects.

9 Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and global privacy frameworks:

  • Right to Portability: You can export your compiled TrueType fonts at any time.
  • Right to Erasure: You can erase all data on demand directly from within the app.
  • Advertising ID Opt-Out: You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time through your Android settings: Settings > Google > Ads > Reset Advertising ID or Delete Advertising ID.

10 Children's Privacy (COPPA)

FontMaker does not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). If you believe a minor has provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately at fontmaker@coregritstudio.com so we can take appropriate measures.

11 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates or legal obligations. When updates occur, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will be revised. We recommend reviewing this policy occasionally.
